West Ham United 2-2 Manchester City: Valencia, Aguero trade braces at the Boleyn Ground

Enner Valencia and Sergio Aguero traded braces in an entertaining affair at the Boleyn Ground, as West Ham and Man City drew 2-2 Saturday on NBC.
West Ham was hoping to take the league double versus Man City for the first time since 1963, but came about 10 minutes short.
The Irons move to within a point of fifth-place Manchester United, while City draws level with No. 2 Arsenal. The Gunners play Chelsea on Sunday.

A wayward Yaya Toure and aggressive Nicolas Otamendi helped West Ham take the lead before the game was a minute old, as Cheikhou Kouyate skipped past the Man City midfielder before cutting back for Valencia to blast home.
The lead didn’t last long, as Sergio Aguero won a penalty kick after a collision with Carl Jenkinson. Aguero converted the chance, and Jenkinson came off for new signing Sam Byram with the score 1-1.
But the play of the half was a denial of a goal, as Joe Hart flew to slap wide a scintillating free kick from West Ham wizard Dimitri Payet.


Both sides had chances to go ahead in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and Byram got a slight touch on Fabian Delph‘s rip that bounded off the post.
Valencia put the Hammers in front at the other end, bodying off Otamendi to touch Mikhail Antonio’s long throw past Hart. 2-1, 56’
The Hammers looked the better threat to score as the second half moved toward completion, but Aguero took care of business to tie it at 2. The Argentine attempted to work a bumpy 1-2 with Kennedy Ihenacho, who had come on for a strong Delph, and calmly finished with the side of his foot.
Aguero and Kouyate both produced chances in stoppage time, but it ended 2-2.
