Good morning/afternoon/evening. Want some good news today?
There it is.
Arsenal's
first choice defensive midfielder, and subject of numerous "goals
conceded with, goals conceded without" thinkpieces, Francis Coquelin has
returned to the training pitch and perhaps we can start anticipating a
match day return sooner than later. The aforementioned tweet doesn't
provide much information on whether or not he partook in full training
or just some individual exercises but hey, who are we to complain? As we
all know, defensive midfielder is a touchy subject around these parts
and, despite whatever limitations Coq might have, the side is definitely
better off with him healthy and contributing.
However, even if his return is
some ways off Arsene Wenger and the fanbase can take some comfort in new
signing Mohamed Elneny likely being available for spot minutes in the
very near future given that he's now had some time to get acclimated to
his new surroundings and teammates. Expect more of the
Flamini/Arteta/Chambers triumvirate to hold down the fort until the
former two get (back) up to speed but this is encouraging news for the
title push no matter how far off Coq's return is
