Tomas Rosicky Injury: Updates on Arsenal Midfielder's Thigh and Return

Tomas Rosicky Injury: Updates on Arsenal Midfielder's Thigh and Return
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is set for a six-week absence after injuring his thigh upon his return to fitness in the FA Cup clash against Burnley on Saturday.
Continue for updates.

According to the Mirror's John Cross, Rosicky will be out for six weeks after damaging a thigh muscle on Saturday, when he came on as a 71st-minute substitute for his first appearance of the season.

Rosicky had groin surgery in the summer and was hoping to help manager Arsene Wenger in the end-of-season title run-in, but his impact will be severely hampered as a result of this latest setback.

Wenger will look to the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and new signing Mohamed Elneny to stem the tide in central midfield, with Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere also sidelined with injuries.

Ramsey took to Twitter to celebrate Rosicky's return, but it proved to be premature:
The 35-year-old's contract is poised to expire this summer. James Olley of the London Evening Standard reported in November the playmaker would not be offered an extension, and this injury will undoubtedly shorten his chances even further.

Based on early estimates, Rosicky could make a return in March, but considering the veteran's injury-plagued past, the player may struggle to feature for Arsenal again before taking his leave of the club.
