Here's what Cinderella Leicester need to do to win the Premier League

Here's what Cinderella Leicester need to do to win the Premier League

Another week, another outstanding victory for Leicester City. The Foxes are closing in on their first Premier League title ever, as world soccer's Cinderella tale continues to defy all logic.
On Saturday, Leicester won 1-0 at Crystal Palace and now lead second-place Tottenham by eight points with seven matches to go, with Riyad Mahrez grabbing the lone goal.
Leicester has played 31 league matches this season, winning 19, drawing nine and losing just three times. No team has lost fewer contests than the Foxes, and that, combined with their passion and unity, is why they are at the top.
It's safe to say that if this club actually wins the Premier League, it will be one of the most shocking title-winning seasons we've seen a team ever have. Just last year, the club was sitting in last place in the league in December before finding form late, which has carried into this season.
To win it all, they need 17 points out of the remaining 24, if Tottenham ends up winning out. But teams below, including the Spurs, will likely slip up at some point (Tottenham still has to play Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea), so if Leicester can win four of its remaining seven clashes, that should be enough to do it.
Here's what's left:
April 3: Southampton (H)
April 10: Sunderland (A)
April 17: West Ham (H)
April 24: Swansea (H)
May 1: Manchester United (A)
May 7: Everton (H)
May 15: Chelsea (A)
Leicester will be favored in each one of those matches. Wins should come via Southampton, Sunderland and Swansea, at the least. The final five matches are tough, but United could be out of the race for a Champions League spot by the time they meet, with matches against Manchester City (Sunday), Everton and Tottenham before playing the Foxes. Chelsea and Everton don't have much to play for sitting mid table, so Leicester could benefit from their situation as well.
Each week, everyone seems to wait for the Foxes to drop back down to earth. But this year, Leicester is from another planet and the reality is we are witnesses to one of the wildest, most inspiring sports stories from a soccer team in a long, long time. Can they hold on? Of course they can. Will they? The world, after eight months, expects them to.

Family Of Five Killed After Car Slips Off Pier Into The Sea

Five people from the same family have been killed after the car they were in slipped off a pier and into the sea.
The only survivor of the tragedy was a baby girl who was passed from the car window as it slid into the sea.
The baby, believed to be two or three months old, was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
The accident happened at Buncrana Pier in Co Donegal in Ireland at about 7.15pm on Sunday.
Three children are thought to be among the five people killed. The family were believed to be from nearby Londonderry.

Emergency services said they had recovered the bodies of two boys, a man and a woman. The age of a second female fatality has not been confirmed.
Police are treating the incident as an accident and it thought the car may have “slipped” into the water.
“A baby girl was rescued from the car, with the assistance of a bystander,” police said.
A major air and sea rescue mission was launched by the coastguard, police and emergency services after the alarm was raised.
Two lifeboats, a helicopter and local fishing boats were involved in the effort to save those trapped inside the car.
Northern Ireland deputy first minister Martin McGuinness said on Twitter: “Very sad news of fatalities in an incident at Buncrana Pier tonight. Thoughts are with relatives of those involved and rescue services.”
Buncrana councillor Rena Donaghy told the BBC it was a “tragedy of enormous magnitude”.
She said: “I’ve been standing at the pier with so many others from the town looking out at blue flashing lights on the water in a state of complete shock.
“People here can’t believe what they’re hearing, can’t believe what they’re seeing.”
Jack Murray, local Sinn Fein councillor in Inishowen, said: “It seems the baby was passed out as the car was sinking.
“The baby was passed out the window - a local who had been there tried to help and managed to recover the baby at that point,

Nigeria has the measure of Boko Haram

Nigeria is on top of its security problems and Boko Haram has been hobbled ahead of elections in the oil-rich River State region, according to Information Minister Lai Mohammed.
Mohammed said the army had significantly reduced Boko Haram's ability to carry out big attacks, just days after a suspected suicide attack by the group on a mosque left 22 worshippers dead in the northeastern Maiduguri city.
"The government is on top of the situation in terms of security and I think Nigeria has done really well," Mohammed said in an interview with Al Jazeera on Saturday.
"The Boko Haram insurgency has been massively decimated to the extent that it is no longer in the position to carry out spectacular attacks."
Referring to the attack in Maiduguri, Mohammed said there was a difference between lone-wolf attacks and large-scale ones.
"Before these villagers [in Maiduguri] were under the control of Boko Haram insurgents ... today they have been dislodged. Now they're attacking soft targets, which is what happens with a insurgency on its way out."

Oil crisis
Mohammed also told Al Jazeera that his government saw the current low oil prices as an opportunity to diversify its economy. Nigeria has proven oil reserves of more than 37 billion barrels and a daily output of more than two million, according to OPEC.
In February, it entered talks with the World Bank for a loan to shore up its finances after oil prices fell to below $30 a barrel.
The current price of per barrel stands at just above $40, still significantly lower than average prices in 2014 of above $110.
Mohammed became information minister after President Muhammadu Buhari won elections last year.

Jose Mourinho signs Man United pre-contract agreement - report

Jose Mourinho has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Manchester United in the summer, according to a report in El Pais.
Mourinho left Chelsea in December and has been heavily linked with Louis van Gaal's job at Old Trafford, with sources telling ESPN FC that he would target Tottenham striker Harry Kane if he were to take over.
The 53-year-old told BT last week that he had already decided to join a new club in July, and that he wanted to clear up a few "lies" about his future.
Van Gaal, who has a three-year contract at the club which ends in summer 2017, has taken sixth-placed United to only nine wins in 26 games and crashed out of the Champions League and Europa League. But he insisted that he does not feel under pressure and is confident of keeping his job.
However, the report claims that Mourinho has agreed to take over and will be paid £15 million if he is not appointed before June 1 according to a source from his agent Jorge Mendes' company Gestifute.
A clause reportedly inserted in his agreement says that United will pay Mourinho £5m if they do not appoint him before May 1, and a further £10m if they don't before June 1.
El Pais also claims that the reason for the clause is because senior figures at the club such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton are not certain that the Portuguese is the right man to take over.
Sources told ESPN FC in February that Mourinho and his representatives are increasingly confident he will be Manchester United manager next season, while the club were also looking at Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino as a possible successor to Van Gaal.

Jose Mourinho Linked to Arsenal Amid Strong Manchester United Rumours

Jose Mourinho Linked to Arsenal Amid Strong Manchester United Rumours
Jose Mourinho is reportedly a candidate to take over from longstanding nemesis Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer, although the Portuguese remains heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
The surprise report comes from Fichajes (h/t Alex Young of Goal), which said the north Londoners are ready to capitalise on United’s failure to tie up a contract with the iconic coach. It’s suggested the Arsenal hierarchy is growing tired of the prolonged underachievement on Wenger’s watch.
The Gunners sit in third place in the Premier League, 11 points back on surprise leaders Leicester City having played one game less. It’s a state of affairs that has left a lot of fans disgruntled, with some supporters bringing critical banners to matches.

Wenger has struggled to get the best from Arsenal this season.
Arsenal icon Ian Wright is unhappy with these displays in the stands and has encouraged the supporters to direct their ire elsewhere, per BT Sport Football:
If Wenger were to move on in the summer, Mourinho would be an intriguing choice for Arsenal. While he’s a winner, his style of management is at odds with Wenger’s. Pragmatism is favoured, promotion of young players is a secondary concern and a win-at-all-costs mentality is instilled within the squad.
Given these differences, it’s little surprise the two have exchanged verbals down the years. Mourinho infamously branded Wenger a “specialist in failure” in 2014 after the Arsenal boss stated “it is his fear to fail,” per Adam Bate of Sky Sports.

Mourinho has long been considered to be the antithesis of Wenger.
There seems to be a swell in stories linking Mourinho with a move to Manchester United, though. El Pais (h/t Jack Wilson of the Daily Star) claimed the coach had signed a pre-contract with the club, but the Red Devils have declined to comment on whether that's the case, according to Reuters (h/t Marc Williams of the Daily Star).
The role’s incumbent, Louis van Gaal, has endured a lot of criticism after a tumultuous term. However, Sky Sports' Jamie Redknapp, writing for the Daily Mail, thinks the Dutchman would leave behind a positive legacy should he depart, with the likes of Marcus Rashford coming through under his tenure:
There's no way Van Gaal will still be in charge at Manchester United next season, but he does deserve credit for one thing: giving the kids a chance.
You wonder if whoever replaces him will show similar faith in United’s youth or simply demand big-money signings. When a youngster has done well, Van Gaal has backed them.
When I saw Marcus Rashford score against Arsenal I wondered if he was just a young player with luck on his side. Not any more. He looks a real star.

Indeed, Sean Lunt of HITC Sport is unsure how Rashford would develop under a manager such as Mourinho, who is notorious for his unwillingness to blood youngsters:
Nevertheless, it certainly looks more likely Mourinho will be at Old Trafford than the Emirates Stadium next season.
While Arsenal need to find a better blend between fortitude and flair, sometimes simply too much water has passed under the bridge; if he took the job on, the focus on the Portuguese would be scrupulous, and the criticism would be amplified if things were to go wrong.
United seem like a better overall fit for the former Chelsea manager, although you suspect Mourinho would have to give certain guarantees when it comes to the integration of young talent.
The Red Devils are synonymous with giving youth a chance, and even a coach as illustrious as Mourinho may have to bow to this tradition.

Ciara Turns a Nigerian Street Into Her Own Dance Floor

It’s perhaps an understatement to say that Ciara can turn any locale into her own dance floor. Whether levitating in a desert or elevating en pointe like a trained ballerina, the dexterous performer has always been quick to jump to her feet and showcase her gravity-defying, backbreaking moves. And from the chain of Instagram videos the “I Bet” singer posted this morning, it appears she’s made the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, the new venue for her next party! In town for a recent performance, Ciara teamed up with a band of local dancers to learn the authentic Naija way to wind her hips and dip it low to the thumping beats of Iyanya’s “Kukere.”

A quick study, Ciara expertly clipped her hips, twisted her bare feet, and threw her arms about in the middle of the road, in perfect harmony with her backup dancers. Even the windswept folds of her custom plunging tunic moved seamlessly throughout the number. Later she described the traditional African dance as more like a “feeling”—one that we suspect will have a lot to do with the new album she just announced she’s recording. No matter what it brings, it’s clear Ciara’s already got the moves down.
